Writing for pleasure is on the decline. Children and adults are not writing like we used to, but writing is a creative skill that has a place in this digital world.

Each week, we meet in my classroom. At present, it is the Y2 children who choose what they want to write - a story, letter, poem, list... I simply provide the materials and the space then we sit, chat and write ✍️😊. Mrs Kenyon

Year Of Reading 2026

Our Year of Reading started with an author/illustrator visit by Sean Perkins. All of the infant children came together in the hall for a fun assembly where Sean read a story ‘Oscar and Ben, The Sleepover.’ Throughout the day, each class had a special workshop with Sean and the reception class had a lovely singalong to finish their day.
