Sunday update 5pm
Dear Parents and staff,
We intend to open the school up on Monday morning but ask for your cooperation in order to ensure every ones safety. The biggest problems we face are; the conditions on Hollymount Lane / footpath and the fact that there is very little parking available at the school
During the day today we have paid for the snow to be scraped off the lane and the road way salted. --£350. (Many thanks to one of our parents who put me in touch with a private company who had some salt).
There should be a cleared road way through to the school main car park to enable any cars to turn round ready to drive away. The Carter court and circulation road are still blocked with deep snow and ice.
We have a number of parents lined up to operate a series of walking buses from the bottom of the lane at five minute intervals from 8.30 onwards in the hope that you will not try to drive up to school.
The registers will be delayed until 9.15 each morning to allow greater time for your journey. At the end of the day you may pick up from 3.15 in class or wait for school to close at 3.30 as normal. In some ways the end of the day could be more problematical than the start. You will need to collect on foot or by sledge as there are so few parking spaces available.
The situation in the school kitchen is that we have enough food supplies in stock to manage for a number of days. Even then there are ways and means of restocking without the need for delivery Lorries.
Please park in a safe place away from the lane and walk. If the footpath becomes polished and iced up – use the golf course. I am sure they will not mind. For members of staff who are very concerned about walking up the footpath there are some parking spaces available in the front car park. Lunch time staff and ‘Owls’ staff you should be able to drive up to school as normal (with care).
When the snow does eventually melt you will also see that we have created some additional parking spaces on the land opposite the crèche entrance. (Christmas Holidays).
Many thanks for your understanding and cooperation. I am so looking forward to getting back to the normal routine, I am sure that you are too.
